Long Term Care Initiative (LTCI)
The Nanaimo Long Term Care Initiative (LTCI) was developed in 2015 following the recognition of inconsistencies with patient care in Long Term Care facilities across BC. If you would like to work in LTC and be a part of this collaborative initiative, you are invited to meet with our LTCI Manager and sign up to receive funding and support to care for your patients in LTC.
Improving Patient Care
The Initiative supports Physicians who wish to ensure that the high standard of care they have provided to their patients can continue. Family Physicians can benefit from the support of an annual per patient payment, CME opportunities, and tools for providing Geriatric care.
Supporting Physicians
The Nanaimo Division's LTCI assists MRPs in the community by providing access to peer support, together with CME events, and collaboration with allied health providers. In addition, Quality Improvement funding education bursaries, and additional resources are available to our LTCI physicians.
Removing Barriers
The Division of Family Practice has been working alongside Family Physicians and senior management at LTC homes to address challenges faced by Physicians to provide care for LTC patients. Improvements and support include the PEAK On-Call Pilot, policies, procedures, admission process' and more.
