The Nanaimo Access Initiative

The Nanaimo Access Initiative is a collaborative effort aimed to improve attached patient access to urgent care within primary care clinics across Nanaimo.

Physicians and Nurse Practitioners are invited to join the Access Initiative to receive support and join the community of fellow practitioners in Nanaimo.

If you would like to request modifications to any of these templates/resources for your clinic, please email the Nanaimo Division with your choice of poster(s) and your clinics logo (if desired).

Mutual Respect Posters for Clinics

The first message agreed upon by the Patient Communications Working Group was the importance of respect for MOAs and the critical work they do. In response, the Working Group developed a variety of posters that can be customized and requested from the Nanaimo Division to put up in your clinic!

Same-Day Access Posters

The Patient Communications Working Group (2025) developed a series of modifiable templates which can be used by clinics to communicate same-day access availability.

For use by: clinics and primary care providers to communicate with the patients for whom they provide care. Note these posters are not intended to be used for patients who do not have a primary care provider.

Holiday Letters

Some Physicians and Nurse Practitioners send out an annual holiday letter: this letter is an opportunity to communicate any changes to hours during the holidays and also to share updates on same-day access policies.

See below for a sample letter. If you would like to adapt this letter with your own language, please email the Division to request a customized letter with your clinics logo.
